It came to me in a vision like this.
You’re moving through a dense forest, branches clawing at your skin, the weight of life pressing heavily on your shoulders, unseen forces tugging you in every direction. There’s barely time to pause or catch your breath. You just keep pushing forward.
Then, you reach a fork in the path. To the right, the trail continues as before—paved, familiar, and predictable. But to the left, a worn and lesser-traveled path reveals itself, partially hidden by the underbrush. In the distance, a soft light blinks through the shadows. It’s been so long since you’ve seen a light.
Fear lingers in the unknown, but so does curiosity—and something tender, something brave. So, with a deep, steadying breath, you take the path less traveled. To your surprise, the branches loosen their grip, the ground beneath you feels sure and steady, and the trail ahead is not as dense as you once feared.
When you emerge from the thicket, you have to blink back the sun-spotted light from your eyes. Slowly, a vision unfolds: a cottage, cloaked in ivy and moss, nestled in a wild, colorful field. You’ve never seen this place before, and yet somehow, it feels like you’ve always known it.
A lantern swings gently from the archway above the stoop, its soft glow inviting you closer. The weathered front door creaks open, welcoming you inside. The air carries the comforting scent of old stone, fresh herbs, and something quietly magical.
The hallway leads you to the kitchen and onward to the solarium, where sunlight spills through the windows. Beyond the glass, wildflowers stretch across the fields, their colors cutting through a sea of green. Garden beds overflow with fruits, vegetables, and herbs—gifts from the earth to those who care for it.
Upstairs, rooms overflow with books, inviting armchairs, and quiet nooks that seem to appear just when you need them. Maybe there’s even a hidden basement, or a pull-down attic, waiting to be discovered. There’s so much to explore here—and we will, in time.
Somehow, through winding paths and hilly valleys, you’ve found your way here. And now, you’re home.
Welcome to Lantern on the Left—a quiet corner of the world where stories are shared, creativity blooms, and the frantic pace of life softens just enough to let you breathe. I created this space for anyone who has ever needed a place to pause, reconnect with nature, and find beauty in life’s simple, meaningful moments.
Here, you can wander the woods, gather around a fire to share tales, and craft something heartfelt with your own two hands.
And here, you’ll never walk the path alone.
So, what is the Lantern on the Left all about?
A Retreat from the Hustle
Lantern on the Left is a quiet space amidst the noise—a living retreat where the pace of life gently slows and the outside world softens. Here, you’re invited to step off the paved path and meander through something slower, something deeper. This is a sanctuary for those who long to step back, take a deep breath, and live more deliberately. We’re so often swept up by endless to-do lists, deadlines, and distractions that we forget the beauty in simply being. In this space, there’s permission to pause. To put down the weight you’ve been carrying and instead, pick up a cup of tea, a paintbrush, or a notebook—whatever helps you reconnect with yourself.
Creativity as Ritual
Creativity is at the heart of this place. Whether it’s crafting with your hands, dreaming up stories, or tending to a garden that grows as wildly as your imagination, there’s always room here for something meaningful to bloom.
At Lantern on the Left, we treat creativity as a practice, not a performance. No perfect projects or polished masterpieces required—just the quiet joy of making, shaping, and expressing yourself. You’ll find storytelling prompts, simple DIY projects, and inspiration for weaving creativity into your everyday rhythms.
Magic in the Everyday
There is magic to be found in simple rituals and daily routines if we just know where to look. It’s in the warm glow of candlelight on a rainy evening, the scent of herbs drying by the window, or the hush of twilight settling over a quiet garden.
Here, we’ll celebrate that magic—the folklore and wisdom passed down through generations, the wonder tucked into nature’s cycles, and the small joys that often go unnoticed. From gathering wildflowers to crafting seasonal rituals, we’ll learn to listen to the whispers of the world around us.
A Place to Belong
Whether you’re here to gather inspiration, share a story, or simply rest, you are welcome. Lantern on the Left is a home away from home, where you can wander through fields of imagination, find a cozy nook to reflect, or join a circle of like-hearted souls seeking connection.
Together, we’ll explore how to live more intentionally and creatively, crafting a life that feels like your own personal sanctuary. So step into the glow of the lantern, settle in, and remember—you are never alone on this journey.
